The Shared Mobility Guidebook provides a comprehensive look at ride-share, care-share, and bike-share so interested agencies can identify, assess, attract, and manage these programs.

As part of this project, a TTI editor reworked an existing report into a guidebook format. The editor used information chunking, a heading hierarchy, and plain language to make the guidebook easy to read and navigate. The designer created infographics, callouts, and effective design to complement the writing.

The Public Involvement Guidebook identifies legal obligations, best practices, and available resources so TxDOT employees can effectively incorporate public involvement activities into their projects or programs.

TTI Communications adapted research materials to create a guidebook aimed at managers of rural and small urban public transit systems. The guidebook educates agency decision makers regarding the component costs of running transit facilities, as well as teaches them how to minimize fiscal waste (e.g., where and how to buy fuel) and optimize opportunities (e.g., outsourcing functions that make sense). The guidebook helps managers increase efficiency, reduce operating costs, and provide excellent customer service while tracking reasonable performance measures to ensure continuous improvement over time.

Since 2007, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) has provided TxDOT support with preparing, planning and teaching seal coat-training courses for their district personnel. The courses are based on a curriculum created from TxDOT’s Seal Coat and Surface Treatment Manual. Seal coats, also known as chip seals, are simple, relatively inexpensive pavement surfaces that are highly effective if adequate care is taken in the planning and execution of the work. One class is designed for inspectors [i.e., practitioners] and the other focuses on planning and design [intended for engineers]. The classes are meant to supplement and enhance participant understanding of seal coat projects while on the job.
